❖ 5 Must-Haves for Your Next Assignment ❖

Sometimes little things can make a big difference. We’ve found this to be especially true when it comes to business travel.

Today we wanted to share 5 “little” things that can make a big difference on your next trip.

Packing Cubes to Keep Your Luggage Organized

Never heard of packing cubes? These relatively small containers made of fabric, often in a rectangular shape, are used for packing clothing, toiletries, etc. They zip closed and are small enough that you can fit several into a carry-on bag, suitcase, or backpack.

We love packing cubes because they can keep your things coordinated, easy to access, and organized. This is key. An organized bag will help you feel less frazzled when packing/repacking and will help you find what you’re looking for quickly.

An Under-Seat Carry-On Roller

For our clients with assignments lasting weeks and months, the standard advice of traveling with only carry-on luggage doesn’t apply. However, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have a great carry-on bag that makes your life easier.

Given you will most likely be checking your baggage, for your flight we recommend a rolling bag that will give you the choice of stow in the overhead compartment or under the seat in from of you for easier access. These are often perfect to contain work items such as a laptop or business documents as well as a few personal things like electronics, snacks, or your favorite book.

Portable Charger to Keep You Powered Up

Conference calls, multiple emails, and watching video content can drain your phone’s battery quickly. A lightweight, high-quality portable charger can really save the day.
In recent years, these devices have become more and more affordable (with many solid options under $50) while offering more capacity and charging at faster rates.

If your concerned that your work may require you be in areas with limited power, there are even solar powered options available at affordable prices.

Self-Filtering Water Bottle

We’ve mentioned this point in the past, but staying hydrated really is an important part of staying healthy and alert while on the road. For this reason, we think a self-filtering water bottle is one of the business travel must-haves.

It helps make tap water taste great and is much better for both you and the environment than plastic disposable water bottles.
Another benefit? You’ll save money. No more paying for that overpriced bottled water you’ll find in the airport terminals!

Anti-Bacterial Gel or Wipes

blank

While the use of hand sanitizers has reached an entirely new level of popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s really a practice that we should all be following all the time. Shaking hands, touching anything on an airplane, opening doors… welcome to travel germs!

In addition to frequently washing your hands, we recommend always traveling with a compact container of anti-bacterial hand gel or wipes. Just remember for and liquids or gels, any items passing through a TSA checkpoint be no larger than 3.4 ounces.

As travel activities start to increase as we approach the Summer months, I hope these suggestions are helpful. Yes, they are simple… but they can make a big difference on your next assignment.
