Packing Tips for a Temporary Apartment

Seasoned travelers know exactly what to pack when they get deployed to a new location. However, people new to the work may have to learn packing tips through experience. While there are undoubtedly lessons you’ll learn along the way, here are some tips for packing to stay at a temporary apartment.

Pack Multipurpose Clothing Items

You will need to pack work clothes, casual clothing, activewear, and a formal outfit. All of these different clothes will fill up your luggage rather quickly. Therefore, you should pack clothing items that are appropriate in multiple different situations. For example, a black tee shirt can be used under a sweater or a blazer furing the day than paired with jeans after work. You may also be able to wear the blazer with the black tee and slacks one day then with a dress another day. In order to get the most out of the clothing you bring, it can help to stick to a cohesive color story in a majority of your clothing to make it easy to mix and match with other items in your temporary closet.

If you do pack too much, don’t worry. All of our bedrooms include a closet and dresser. Some of the units even include a walk-in closet!

Layer Up

Weather can change drastically during an extended stay. Even if you find yourself in a warm climate, such as Lake Mary, FL or Houma, LA, you can wind up experiencing chilly days. Other locations, such as Riverford, KY, can be especially unpredictable.

In order to prepare properly, you should make sure to pack plenty of layers. You should bring a coat and even a hat and gloves if you will be deployed during the winter. Don’t forget plenty of sweaters and hoodies to ensure you stay warm in the case of a cold front or a cold office.

Limit Yourself to 3 – 5 Pairs of Shoes

Some people love shoes. That’s understandable. However, shoes take up a lot of room. It’s best to limit your footwear to 1 – 2 options that you can wear to the office, sneakers, and a pair of sandals.

Accessorize

When you have limited clothing options, you can spice up your ensambles by using the right accessories. Accessories don’t usually take up too much space, so feel free to pack jewelry, small purses, belts, glasses, etc…

Prepare For Emergencies

When you deploy for work, you should be prepared for any situation you may encounter. Therefore, you should pack appropriately.

Items that can help keep you prepared in any situation include:

  • Extra medication
  • First-aid kit
  • Cash
  • Second phone/charger
  • Emergency contact numbers

Personalize Your Space

When you stay with Luxury Corporate Lodging, we want you to feel like you’re at your home away from home.

One way to make your temporary apartment feel more homey include pictures of friends and relatives, along with a couple of your favorite knick-knacks.

Don’t Forget Entertainment!

You will have downtime when in your home away from home. You want to be able to do the hobbies you do at home, so don’t forget to pack entertainment for yourself.

If you want to catch up on reading during your deployment, consider buying your books on a phone or tablet to save space on heavy books. Alternatively, bring one or two books and try to initiate a book swap at the office.

All of our apartments also come equipped with streaming-ready TVs in the living room and the bedroom. This is a great time to binge that show you never fit into your schedule.  All you have to do is sign up for the streaming service you want and log-in!

You may also want to make space for your golf clubs or your tennis rackets, too.
